Brief History:
Marion is located on the northern border of LaMoure County, southeast section of North Dakota. Current Population is 169. The City of Marion began in 1900 as the railroad was built. The engineer named the town Marion after his daughter. Marion is a sister of Kathryn and Alice, North Dakota. The first business place was the blacksmith shop built in 1901. Now the city has a number of businesses. With pride and work the Marion Community Hall and Marion Cafe were built by volunteer labor. We are the home of the Litchville-Marion High School. Come and join the spirit of the people in Marion which will be celebrating 100 years in the year 2000.
