Richard Aberle was born and raised in rural LaMoure County. He graduated from the Berlin High School, Berlin, ND. He received his Bachelor of Science degree with a major in mathematics, science and industrial arts from Ellendale State College. He obtained a Masters degree from the University of Northern Colorado. He completed postgraduate studies at the University of North Dakota, North Dakota State University, Western Washington State College, Northern State College, University of Montana and the University of South Dakota.
He served as a high school teacher and principal at Hope, ND, for 3 years. He served as a high school teacher, counselor, and principal for 20 years at Edgeley, ND. He completed over 35 years in the North Dakota Army National Guard engineer units. Over 15 of those years were served on active duty. Presently he is is a retired farmer near Edgeley, North Dakota.
He and Lorraine, his wife, reside on their farmstead near Edgeley, ND. They have 3 adult sons. Michael serves as a full-time officer in the North Dakota National Guard. James and Dana are both engineers working in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Commissioner Aberle feels we need to be responsive to the needs of our citizens and provide their needed services in a professional and fiscally responsible manner.
With the climatic conditions we have experienced during the past few years, our roads need considerable repair and then they need to be properly maintained.
Commissioner Aberle was elected to serve from District No. 5 in November, 1998. His term expires in December, 2008.
